Dear Shareholders,
Our Chairman of the board of directors of China Medical & HealthCare Group Limited (“CMHG”), Dr Lim Cheok Peng, and I are very excited to be leading CMHG’s new healthcare and eldercare platform.
We are also very proud to have been part of the ParkwayHealth team during its period of rapid growth. After leaving that great organization, we spent some time observing that even with all the new developments in healthcare in Asia over the past few years, there are still many people in the region who cannot easily access healthcare that is safe, affordable, and that also has a reasonable level of customer service. We also believe that there is currently too large a difference in customer experience between the very basic healthcare services provided by the governments of many of the countries in Asia, and that available at the very high-end of the market. That is, while all of us want healthcare that is safe, effective, and more comfortable than what is available at the government facilities, not everyone of us needs it to be overly-luxurious. We believe many customers want better value for their money than what they can get today.
Another belief shared by Dr Lim and me is that with the technological improvements of the past ten years, an increasing number of previously exclusive inpatient medical services can now be provided in outpatient facilities. As such, we think that these services should therefore be available at a lower cost to patients, and in more convenient locations.
Furthermore, we also believe that with an aging population in many parts of Asia, there should be more integration between healthcare and eldercare so that our clients could benefit from a seamless transition from the care provided by their primary care doctors, to hospital services, then to full-service retirement villages, and ultimately, assisted-living facilities when required.
Given the above, Dr Lim and I, together with our rapidly growing and passionate team, have decided to develop this new healthcare platform – CMHG – to provide good, affordable healthcare, using increasingly more outpatient facilities where possible, integrated with eldercare where needed.
